Description
PRIMARY USES: Subclinical Hypothyroid Syndrome, Fatigue, Emotional Exhaustion
Gotu Kola has been traditionally used as an energizing, cognitive stimulating herb for use in fatigue, confusion and general lethargy. It seems to have a stimulating effect on the thyroid and is indicated for low functional thyroid activity. Low thyroid can be tested for with a blood test and thyroid hormones are prescribed if it is low. Commonly, the thyroid tests out normal yet one still has the symptoms of low thyroid and these symptoms include fatigue, running cooler than others (feeling cooler in your body), cold hands and/or feet, sluggish bowels, slow digestion or transit time, sleepy looking eyes if severe and slower cognitive function. Gotu Kola is indicated for this type of a person and one doesn’t need to have all these symptoms to try this herb.
Gotu Kola can be used for those exhausted from emotional upheaval, excessive work habits and for those who simply put out more energy than they put back into themselves, and it helps the limbic/emotional brain regulate hormonal output to help one stay more balanced.
Gotu Kola is also high in flavanoids and it helps in capillary fragility and strengthens vascular integrity.
