St. John's tonic
PRIMARY USES: Depression, Mood Swings, Feeling Flat
St. John's Tonic is a synergistic St. John's Wort formula that focuses on reducing depression and elevating mood. This formula is for mild to moderate depression. It is effective for chemical depression as well as depression from life's events that would be typically depressing. Those who feel flat or have lowered passion and vital energy can use St. John's Tonic. It increases the neurotransmitter serotonin; it works similar to either a selective seratonin re-uptake inhibitor (SSRI) or monoamine oxidase inhibiting (MAO) anti-depressant. St. John's Tonic can be used for depression leading to decreased libido.
Many people do not have clinical depression, but do feel deflated and a bit down on a daily basis; they can use this safe remedy. Effects can take effect in as soon as 2 weeks, but 4 weeks is more common. It is best used as a long-term tonic over 1 month. It can also be used very long term.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS AND CAUTIONS:
Severe depression, Pregnancy, Nursing, Many suggest that prescription antidepressants should not be combined with herbal antidepressants like St. John's Wort even though side effects are unusual.

DOSAGE: Generally: 20-60 drops, 2-3 times per day in juice or water. Doses of once per day tend to be unsuccessful.
